Anthropic Releases Claude Sonnet 5.5 with 70.6% on Terminal-Bench 4.0 at Unchanged Pricing

Anthropic has shipped Claude Sonnet 5.5, a new iteration of its mid-tier model that scores 70.6% on Terminal-Bench 4.0, a benchmark specifically designed to evaluate agentic and coding performance in terminal environments. The model retains the same $3 input / $15 output pricing as its predecessor, making it a drop-in upgrade for developers already using Sonnet in production. Terminal-Bench 4.0 scores are increasingly meaningful for developers building CLI tools, code agents, and shell-based automation, as the benchmark reflects real-world command execution and multi-step reasoning. Teams using Claude for agentic pipelines should evaluate whether the 5.5 checkpoint meaningfully improves task completion rates before migrating. This release continues Anthropic's pattern of incremental capability gains at stable price points, which reduces switching friction for production deployments.
