Meta Launches AI Assistant Hardware on a Keychain

Meta has released a compact AI assistant device designed to be carried on a keychain, bringing its AI assistant into an always-available physical form factor outside of phones or glasses. The device connects to Meta's AI backend and is designed for voice-first interaction, targeting use cases where pulling out a phone is inconvenient. This is part of Meta's broader hardware-embedded AI strategy that also includes Ray-Ban smart glasses, positioning the company as a leader in ambient AI hardware. For developers, this expands the surface area on which Meta AI runs — and may eventually expose new APIs for keychain-device-specific interaction modalities. It also signals a competitive push against OpenAI's and Apple's wearable AI ambitions in the sub-$100 form factor space.
